SIGN OF THE TIMES
(Gemmell/McAndrew)
in not changing your ways you head on into suffering
i heard the planes go down, took another risk
hear the mothers cry nations asking why
yet you could try to think this through
have to hold, be true, nothing left to do
SIGN OF THE TIMES
it's a SIGN OF THE TIMES
just a sign
SIGN OF THE TIMES
wind that clears away, there's dust-bowl lands today
fear of night time too, hard to win on through
nothing left to say, your mummy's gone away
tear your heart apart - but that's not all
have to hold, be true, nothing left to do
SIGN OF THE TIMES etc
let's just classify, it's do or die
easy to feel so sad, the news is always bad
daddy's gone away, no need to stand alone
world doom, despair, give a second thought
have to hold, be true, nothing left to do
SIGN OF THE TIMES etc
Comment:- This is an example of lyrics that Charlie wrote in response to my suggestion of the title. It comments on world conditions, these being echoed in the outro of the song, where the fade consists of the Big Ben chimes and intro comments from News at Ten.
